Purpose: To teach professional skills and techniques in studio portraiture using practical, interactive lectures and demonstrations. Students are trained to combine fine art photography and photojournalism with individually developed artistic vision to create high-quality photographs.

Structure: This is a fast track, 8 weeks session with one evening session per week.

Each session will be 2 hours long, divided into three sections. The first 30 minutes will be a structured lecture, followed by 60 minutes of actual photography taking with live models, closing with 30 minutes of discussion and critique of the prior week's assignment.

Content: The course will cover basic photography skills including equipment, composition and design, foreground and background, lighting, flash, exposure, depth of field, filters, cropping, model posing, props and other pertinent subjects.

Class size: Small Class. In order to provide adequate attention to each student, there will be no more than 5 students per class.

Portfolio: Each student will prepare a professional-quality photograph portfolio as the capstone project of completion for the course.

Certificate: Students who have attended all classes and completed their photograph portfolio will be awarded a Certificate of Recognition.

Course Fee: $1,800. Equipment and materials are not included in this fee. Each student will be required to have an SLR camera.
